As you might have heard, AirDrop is now available for all iOS devices that supports iOS 7. But there’s a catch: its only for devices with a newer WiFi hardware. That’s excluding iPhone 4 and 4S as well as iPad 2 and 3. Worse, it doesn’t even support AirDrop for Mac yet. Although things could change throughout the beta period, we shouldn’t hold our breath.
Luckily, we found two great solution, long before iOS 7 was announced. It’s Instashare and Filedrop.
Instashare has a universal app on the App Store that supports both iPhone and iPad running iOS 5 and later. That means it even supports iPhone 3GS, folks! It is currently free with ads though you have the option to remove the ad for 99 cents/RM3. Furthermore, it also has a Mac app so you can exchange stuff between devices seamlessly. It’s a beta, by the way. Take a look at the video below:

Filedrop is pretty much similar with Instashare, but goes much further. It is available for all sorts of platforms including iOS, OS X, and Windows too. Everything is free, and its coming soon to Android and Windows Phone as well. For the Mac, it rather stays in the dock and can be launch manually if you want, instead of having it ready for you all the time like Instashare did. Nevertheless, you have nothing to lose.
